PRESIDENT, connecticare

Eric Galvin

Eric Galvin, president since 2017, has more than 20 years of experience in the health care industry in the areas of operations, underwriting, finance and human resources. He came to ConnectiCare in 2015 from South Carolina, where he was active in efforts to make the health care system more sustainable and affordable.

Eric is a member of the board of directors for Junior Achievement of Southwest New England. He previously served as an executive committee member of the Junior Achievement of Central South Carolina, where he helped deliver financial literacy education to thousands of students. He also served on the board of the South Carolina March of Dimes, an organization committed to helping ensure children are born healthy and get the best start to life possible.

In his free time, he is a competitive skier and recreational cyclist. He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Connecticut, and is a certified internal systems auditor and a certified public accountant.

Robert A. Kosior

Senior Vice President, Chief Operating Officer

As senior vice president and chief operating officer, Robert Kosior ensures ConnectiCare products and services are the best in the market and competitively priced. He and his team understand the evolving health care market trends and collaborate with hospitals and providers to manage the cost of care for our members.

Robert has more than 25 years of experience in finance and operations management. For 15 of those years he served as the chief financial officer of a regional, nationally ranked health plan.

A Certified Public Accountant, Robert earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration/accounting from the University of Connecticut and completed Wharton’s Executive Development Program at the University of Pennsylvania.

Bert Wachtelhausen

President, WellSpark Health

Roberta (Bert) Wachtelhausen is the visionary and strategic leader of WellSpark Health. She is a recognized expert in health care and wellness, with more than 30 years of experience shaping products and programs at national and regional health plans and including co-funding a health benefits startup. Bert earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Connecticut and completed graduate level coursework at the University of Hartford.

Brian Pagliaro

Senior Vice President, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer

Brian brings extensive experience in employee benefits and health insurance to oversee sales account management and marketing teams for ConnectiCare commercial health plans. He also collaborates with business leaders, health systems, and others, so ConnectiCare can continue to bring innovative products to employers, individuals, and families.

Before joining ConnectiCare, Brian held senior leadership positions in sales, marketing, and client management at both nonprofit and for-profit organizations in the Northeast as well as North Carolina. He is a Connecticut native with a bachelor’s degree from Boston University.

Mark Meador

General Counsel

Mark Meador oversees all of ConnectiCare’s legal matters as well as regulatory affairs and health care reform implementation. He and his team provide the legal support needed to ensure ConnectiCare delivers products and services that keep members healthy.

Mark has extensive legal experience in the health care industry, serving in leadership roles at top national insurance carriers for over two decades. He is a two-time graduate of Emory University, earning both his bachelor’s degree in economics and Juris Doctor (J.D.; law degree).

Karen Ignagni

Karen Ignagni serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of the EmblemHealth family of companies, which includes EmblemHealth, AdvantageCare Physicians, ConnectiCare, and WellSpark. 

Ms. Ignagni has won many accolades for her leadership in the health care industry for her extensive health policy insight and leadership, earning recognition by national publications, including The New York Times, National Journal, The Hill, Time magazine, The Washingtonian, Fortune magazine, and Modern Healthcare.
